This week, I talked about Thanksgiving stuff. This episode is intended to be a companion to shopping, traveling, cooking, and otherwise preparing for Thanksgiving 2023. I talked about the tradition of the Turkey Trot, and specifically the Manchester Road Race, where I will be debuting my Scarlet Witch costume! Gotta get my nails done! I also talked about all the Thanksgiving foods and why they're good for you. A lot of traditional Thanksgiving foods are really healthy! Lots of beta carotene, other carotenoids, anthocyanins and other antioxidants, protein, fiber, and don't have to be terribly high in calories. And they taste good, too!

Radio Naturopath Episode 276: Dexamethasone and the President; How to Stay Healthy in the Autumn; Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!

This week I talked about dexamethasone, the drug that may well be affecting the president's behavior. I explained what steroid are, the different types, and how they affect the body. I also talked about potential harm of this drugs. 

Today is October 12, the second Monday in October. It's Canadian Thanksgiving! I talked about that and its origins, and about celebrating it in Canada when I was there.  

I also talked about some ways to stay healthy in the autumn. Food, exercise, rest , hygiene!

Radio Naturopath Episode 268: Avoiding Food Intolerances and Allergies Can Help You; Those Pesky Bumps On Your Arms

This week I talked about the various kinds of food allergy testing you can do. IgE or IgG, skin prick, blood draw, or finger stick. This can be helpful for improving many conditions, including any kind of digestive upset, skin conditions including eczema, respiratory conditions such as asthma and allergic rhinitis, joint pain, and so many more. I broke down the different types and methods of testing.

I also had a question about Those Bumps On Your Arms. I explained that it's hyperkeratosis pilaris, and that it's caused by nutritional insuffciencies. You can also do some exfoliating and apply nourishing lotions or oils, but you have to correct the nutritional issue before it improves.

Radio Naturopath Episode 260: Asymptomatic Spread of COVID-19, Sunburn: Foods, Supplements, and Sunscreen, Bugs: Food and Repellant, Eat Your Flowers

This week, I discussed the World Health Organization's initial finding that asymptomatic spread of COVID-19 is nearly unknown, and their subsequent backpedaling. Of course, if someone is asymptomatic, you don't know if they'll STAY that way, or if they're PRE-symptomatic! So, sheesh, still wear your mask and follow health guidelines. 

I reviewed natural sunscreen ingredients, and discussed foods and supplements that can help to prevent sunburn. There's a bunch of them! I also discussed more insect repellant and foods to ward them off. I finished with edible flowers! Next week I'm starting with Why Flowers Make You Happy.
