Radio Naturopath Episode 350: Sunshine and The Outdoors For Your Health
This week on Radio Naturopath, I talked about Why Being Outdoors is Good for you. First we discussed the benefits of sunshine, how it helps immunity, hormones, mood, and even FAT LOSS. Who knew??? We also talked about the health benefits of the mountains, forests, and desert. Did you know that there was a Japanese study that showed that spending at least 20 minutes in the woods at least 1x/week INCREASES THE NUMBER OF NATURAL KILLER CELLS YOU HAVE??? And that trees such as pine, cedar, and fir give off phytoncides, which kill infections? What a great reason to spend more time in my backyard, Mansfield Hollow!
Radio Naturopath Episode 241: Neem the Antifungal, Body Lotion, Microbiome Food Test, Genetic Testing
All about NEEM, an ayurvedic herb that cured my athlete's foot, I'm so excited! Plus other things Neem helps, like hair, skin and nails, and reducing inflammation and infections. Body lotion can be nice as long as it has natural ingredients. There's this new test, Viome, where you send in a stool sample and it gives you diet information based on your microbiome, very interesting! We talk about the benefits of IgG food allergy testing, and also the pros and cons of genetic testing.
Radio Naturopath Episode 227: CBD: Benefits and Caveats; How to Treat Athlete's Foot and Other Fungus
Today we checked in with Ron who is mostly well, and is trying to dial in his thyroid dose. We are still waiting to see if his thyroiditis was chronic, genetic and set off by the Lyme, or if it was an acute thyroiditis caused by the Lyme which will ultimately resolve. We'll only know if his thyroid medicine dose gradually appears to be too much, and we'll dial it back.
CBD is continuing to impress me! I am sleeping better, feeling cheerier, and feeling better during exercise. We also had a caller who wanted us to discuss the caveats of cannabis, so we did: genetically it may not be for you, and any substance you use can be problematic if it doesn't work for you. I also talked about candida, athlete's foot and toenail fungus, how it occurs and how to treat it.
